I agree with you Thvia....things like this should not be happening. Performing FGM is senseless and shameful, to say the least. Somebody described it as 'daylight robbery'. Thank you for a most welcome visit. // paul

It is such a shame to see how women are being exploited these days. And the worst part is that it influences young girls when they see these images of perfection. Then they think that this kind of attention is okay, when it never will be. Thank you for bringing up this topic. Well done, Paul! Congratulations on your win!

I agree with your comment, Joyce; this short poetic form helped to put forward a delicate topic in a semi-abstract way. thank you. // paul

Many men understand, so "rarely" doesn't fit.

This is indeed sad, they do not wish the woman to experience sexual pleasure. This confuses me as I can't understand how a man can fully enjoy the experience if she is not fully participating. This is a horrible theft of part of a womans humanity.

hey, I read Debs comment to you below here and wanted to know myself . What DOES FGM refer to specifically? Hmmm, I think I might know!!! Begins with female and ends with mutilation?

My fault...but I could not have more than one word for a title (rule of Pleiades form!), so I had to leave that to readers' own investigative attempts! Thank you for the comment and full marks for solving the word-riddle:) // paul

yes, a VERY meaningful topic

what do the initials stand for sorry to be so behind the times? ahhhhhh mutilation! [nod] when a culture sees woman as a possession, chattel, they act this way, look at all those little girls captured in Nigeria and they are be 'used' by the rebels. [sigh] taken from a school yard! Light & Love

The most precious treasures are often stolen. Trauma seeking redemption. A very visceral write Paul. A genuine sympathy. I respect this Art. J.A.B.

Hi Casarah; glad it hit the emotions. Fgm and rape to me do not differ much from each other. Both are condemnable.
Date: 4/29/2014 5:42:00 PM
Indeed, this is a sad but all-too-true poem, Paul. Many women are devoured by the shame of "forceful invasiveness" and never get to experience true love. What is happening to our society? Amazing poem. Length does not make a poem; meaning and feeling make poetry. Another fave for me. Love, Carolyn

Thank you so much Carolyn. As you say this is a sad subject. It's true that FGM has existed since ages ago, but would have expected that by now more would have been done to eradicate it. // txs for the fav :) /x/ paul
