Feline Friends

Fire! a most dreaded word FIRE the shout, the smoke the flames a nightmare where heat rises and steam where escape, escape seems hard fought only life matters in such a scene only life would cause me to run to hunt and search with all that I'm worth for the most precious friend of mine I'd leave all the photos, my few gems and all I'd search beneath couches doors and in hall, tell my breathe left and there was no air. I'd search till I found my kitten there! And happiness would be if we came out safe him and me. * The beginning is Free Verse a small about of end rhyme is added as I find the kitten & we are safe, see how it calms things down?

I can relate to this poem. I had a cat for many years named Bilbo. Hope this poem is not autobiographical! Peace & Love Matthew Anish

Yes, material things are so unimportant really, aren't they? Lovely write, Debs - clever way to end it in rhyme. Nice touch. I'm enjoying your blog - thanks for all your work x

cont from below. If you keep clicking on the links, you get some awesome info. I think the addy I gave you is the main page. If you click, for example on seven line poetry, it brings you to a brief description of Septets. But, if you click on the Septets link (underlined) it gives you a GUIDE to the forms, including rhyme structure, meter, etc. I've enjoyed mucking about in the sites halls. I'd be interested to hear what you think of it. I promised myself to be in bed by 12. Night! Cyndi

This gripped me. I liked the use of repetition to give it a sense of urgency, desperation. I liked the unforced rhyme, too. Good flow. I think this should place quite high on the winner's list! One thing I noticed, I think you meant "Till my breath." Again, I like the feel you gave this, especially in the line, escape, escape. Hugs, Cyndi. A nice portrait of how much a pet friend can mean to us. Cats most definitely rule :). Great poem full of real emotion and loving care Mrs. Debbie, thanks for sharing.
