Feelings of Dread
You welcome the close of day
when the sun gives up its light.
And dream how warm he could be
on a cold and lonely night.
His subtle scent still lingers
on the pillow that you clutch.
And emotions draw a tear
at the thought of his touch.
You're happy he's in heaven,
but his death is hard to bear.
Yet, he oft visits your dreams
and the memories you share.
He made good on his promise
that your wishes would come true.
And your heart grew two sizes
the day he proposed to you.
You know you will meet again,
for his spirit is not dead.
But you can't help but miss him,
fueling feelings of dread.
