Feelings

What is it about feelings They are so easily hurt It can happen with a look Or perhaps a word that's curt When happy feelings vanish We can feel we are alone We wish we could disappear Or just hide beneath a stone We wish to be understood That can't always be the case Feelings can get in the way Our own the hardest to face Although feelings are blessing They often get in the way Sometimes they can be angry They come out in what we say There are times I feel confused Unsure if I'm up or down One minute I am smiling Then sad feelings make me frown If there's one thing I have learned I can't keep them all inside Especially all the sad ones They're the ones I must confide Sometimes I feel romantic Other times I sing the blues I like to feel excited When I get really good news Occasionally anxious Other times I am quite brave Whenever fear takes over I become a lowly slave Mastering my emotions Has become my greatest skill It's more about acceptance Than exercising free will Each emotion has purpose They add color to our days Without them what would matter There would be little to say

Well, it is quite a problem. You have worded this dilemma so well. I'm very much ruled by my feelings, and it has gotten me into heaps of trouble. We can't always let our feelings show. We might face rejection, judgment, or misunderstandings. On the rare occasions, we get exactly what we want! :) Great write, Richard.

Good morning Eileen, when I was growing up I kept a lot inside and that carried through into adulthood. Once I let myself start to feel, my life improved dramatically. Writing has added a new dimension to that expression.

We have all been on both ends of the spectrum.

So true..........most of us do wear our feelings on our sleeves......where they are vunerable to being crushed too easily! Nicely done!

Well I like where you are headed so far! Feelings are a lot of things, but whether or not they make you feel happy or sad I believe there is no doubt you'd feel quite dead without them. Curious to see how it turns out when it's finished :)

That is true, that's why I hate when I get that numb feeling.
