Feelings
What is it about feelings
They are so easily hurt
It can happen with a look
Or perhaps a word that's curt
When happy feelings vanish
We can feel we are alone
We wish we could disappear
Or just hide beneath a stone
We wish to be understood
That can't always be the case
Feelings can get in the way
Our own the hardest to face
Although feelings are blessing
They often get in the way
Sometimes they can be angry
They come out in what we say
There are times I feel confused
Unsure if I'm up or down
One minute I am smiling
Then sad feelings make me frown
If there's one thing I have learned
I can't keep them all inside
Especially all the sad ones
They're the ones I must confide
Sometimes I feel romantic
Other times I sing the blues
I like to feel excited
When I get really good news
Occasionally anxious
Other times I am quite brave
Whenever fear takes over
I become a lowly slave
Mastering my emotions
Has become my greatest skill
It's more about acceptance
Than exercising free will
Each emotion has purpose
They add color to our days
Without them what would matter
There would be little to say
