Actually, my mother was not much of a seamstress. But, she did everything else so well, I stepped in at 14, and learned to sew in self defense. After that, I even made her dresses. But she made quilts, and, in spite of the fact that she grew almost everything we ate, she set an excellent table. We never went hungry!
