Fate's Footfalls

Bony knuckles raking gloomy halls Chambers echoing fate’s footfalls Slumping shoulders and deathly grins Recounting on fingers, countless sins Shuddering, shivering in godless fears Admonishing my guilt, the end, it nears Cowering in silence, holding my breath Smelling foul odors of impending death Grasping and groveling a final chance Embracing, mating, in fatal romance Facing my fears in a sorrowful stare Fingertips gracing my tendrils of hair Ghastly screams erupt pouting lip Into the darkness my soul does slip

Rhoda, reading this was like rolling down a hill......gaining speed and momentum with each line, each thought ....leaving the reader(at least this one) breathlessly reflecting on Fate's Footfalls. Thanks for participating in the contest.

Such a dark and captivating write, Rhonda. I love the dramatic feeling of Death closing in and the gripping imagery that scares my senses.. a chilling rhythm moved me through your eerie poetic lines like 'a dance in the pale moonlight' - such awesome flow.. Superb poetry my friend! Warmest wishes and keep the nightlight on.. ~Susan

Not a bad way to go...verses lying in a hospital bed in the snow...Nice imagery...building up before breaking through death's door...All the best Rhoda

Hi James! Thank you so much, Dear. I've been busy reorganizing my space to have a quiet desk area. Just can't seem to tune out distractions. Typical me...but it is coming along...and I WILL publish in 2019. I have a new FB page as well, Rhoda Tripp Writes.

Well, I was just blown away! Gripping and so crisply delivered, not to mention deeply scooped. I know the hair reference is true, but feel sure the rest is pure talent plus imagination as spurred by a palette of insightful emotions you know well enough to grow dark / dramatic / profound. I have to recover from the impact of this one - and that's a good thing. Poetry hugs ... CayCay

Woooo, deeply darkly, Rhoda. A fine piece, and suitably doom laden. I like to think that when my time comes, the grim reaper will come with a whoopee cushion and a flower that squirts water, just to liven things up. Viv x

Thank you, Viv. This write is purely fiction and I was thinking of a "friend" and her fate. Lol. We all know that Adonis on a white steed will be coming for me. ;-)
