Once upon a time there lived a cat And this cat was much, much, much too fat. The mice he did ignore. His treats came from the store. The mice were safe unless on them he sat. by Francine Roberts, for Cat Contest

Very, very amusing Francine! I loved the ending and my friend has a black cat up in years now that is so fat she can barely walk. She walks from the bed to her dish and back. Haha. I loved this humorous Limerick! So glad to see it in the winners circle. Love, Connie

Your lovely poem exactly describes my Thomas Bahamas in Pajamas. He's fat and bigger than my Dachshund. If he happens to see a mouse or a hummingbird in distress he wouldn't know what to do with them :) Those Whiskas pouces of food look much better to him :) Congrats on your well deserved win. Love, iolanda

You describe a cat we had at one time....she just grew, and grew and grew. She would curl up in a little rocking chair cushion and her extra girth would hang over! :) How cute is this!

That's how it was with Miss Kitty, Francine. She wouldn't chase anything. But in her prime she was rather large and could have crushed a mouse by sitting on it. Enjoyed this witty write. Wishing you success in the cat poems contest! Love, Carolyn
