Falling
Falling, like blossoms in springtime
We basked in the promise of hope
But some departed in the beauty of their prime
With misty eyes we tried to cope
Falling, like raindrops in summer
our tears were suspended in time
As some slipped off in peaceful slumber
As softly the bells did chime
Falling, like leaves in autumn
Some remained only in the spirit
To higher duties they were summoned
They were here for just a bit
Falling, like snowflakes in winter
Some left us with tears untold
Our hearts, like icicles, did splinter
As we stood all alone in the cold
