Fall Beckons
Trees trying now to hold on
to leaves...
Brown around the edges as heat
bakes...
The breeze dry and sullen, no
moisture...
In the fields the wheat waits,
ripening...
Green on the pond now,
cattails sway..
Geese practicing for their departure,
great V's overhead..
Shy fawn now loosing his spots,
mother watches..
Hummingbird dancing at the feeder,
wings blurred...
Peach pie cooling on the sill,
harvest bounty..
A few more weeks of summer,
school beckons..
