We look for fertile soil
Where we may plant faith's seeds.
We hope for productivity,
For we have many needs.
Where may our trust be placed
When friendships prove untrue?
When disappointed in ourselves,
How do we start anew?
How can our hope survive
When status leaves us cold,
When all the things that money buys
Grow weak and lose their hold?
Where do we turn for help
When life has been derailed,
When everything that made our lives
Has faltered and then failed?
When we place all our faith
In others, self, and things,
We feel the disillusionment
That foolish thinking brings.
There is a worthy One
Who merits all our trust--
The loving Lord, Almighty God,
Who made mankind from dust.
