Faith
i pray to God
but He does not answer me
who am i to desire such a thing
naked and cold i am submerged into the river's water
my soul emerge above me
peering into the depths
am i now cleansed
am i now saved
faith
lifted up my lungs free to gasp the air of life
breathe again
reborn
shivering and cold and numb
i hear praises and singing
i feel the tears of love for me
yet i feel alone
i pray to God
but He does not answer
still i pray to praise Him
i pray to thank Him
i pray to love Him
i pray
love thy brother as thy love thy self
pity that brother if i hate me
i hear the ringing of the salvation army bell
amongst the hustle and bustle of holiday shopping
in the freezing cold an elder man rings that hand bell
says God Bless and Merry Christmas
to all who ignore or cheer him
smiling shivering bundle but still exposed to the cold
he rings that bell for every soul he sees
i fold a paper dollar and place it into the pot
God Bless you son, Merry Christmas
from his faith I hear my Lord speak to me.
