Fairy Tales
Grandma, please tell me the story
When a pound equalled twenty shillings
Let the giants creep in my mind
Like after-rain creepers
In the green gorgeous lush
Today, oh today
Let us forget today
With flour price so pent up!
With the highly educated sleeping hungry
With fathers, grandfathers and relatives
Always being watched when with children!
Confined in here by curfews,
I wander in my dreams
And meet beauties on river banks
And melodic meadows beside falls
What graceful beauty
What charming serenity, this darkness provides!
