Fair Oaks Bridge

At the Footbridge We walk pass the million-dollar cabin-themed houses With oak branches that hang and shadow the thin pathway, expecting oncoming cars We turn left where we find people leaving our destination... And someone following with their golden furry dog Obedient but determined to go for his walk. The sunlight flashes through the trees, inviting the heat with it It is hot and blinding, but we press on for we are almost there We come up on some closed shops, one is a yoga dojo My friend finds a hill she used to climb up as a child and reminisces before we reach the Footbridge. A long-haired teenager with a backpack glides by on his skateboard He looks homeless and will soon return back across the bridge when we are leaving. The sights are marvelous! A deep canyon with the American River flowing freely I can see the kayakers and the canoes, and a man floating down the river on a tube The river stretched infinitely into the horizon, traced by the trees growing on the shores Three seagulls flew under the footbridge, as we turned around to head back to our car in Fair Oaks. 7.25.2016

Wonderful descriptive verse. I felt like I was there, too. :-)
