Failure

I gave you my heart, by ripping it out of my chest. I gave you my tears, by letting them fall onto your pages. I gave you my soul, by expressing what I cannot speak. I gave you everything, that I can possibly give to you. And it is still not enough. I try, and I try, and I try. I fail, and I fail, and I fail. After each and every time, I feel like throwing my pen and paper in the trash. And walking away. Never to return. Yet, my heart will not let me stop loving you. Whether I fail, or succeed. I am addicted to you. And you draw me back in.

Kelly I think you just captured the attention and heart of every writer that has read this. We all know the feeling of being angered, frustrated, torn, desperate and humbled by the words ( or lack of ) that we write. Nice job my friend Thanks for the awesome comment on my Pure and White poem. Hugs

Thank you once again, Robin. Writing poetry can be just as confining, as it can be a way to freely express ourselves. Sometimes, it is almost painful when we feel the need to write, yet we cannot find the words!

I totally relate to the magnified frustration in getting it right. You grabbed me with this one. Have a great New Year. :)

Being a poet is great, yet it can also be so frustrating. Like when we are searching for that perfect word, or rhyme, or verse, and can't quite find it. Thank you for the kind comment, Karen. I hope that you had a great Christmas, and I wish you all the best for the New Year!

It's possible that one can become addicted to writing poetry. That's when you have to step back and clear your head to discover which avenue of topic that you haven't written about. Btw, congrats on your win with this poem.
