Fade To Black

Wilted flowers rarely survive In familiar fields not steeped, Distance kept a lie alive Accomplice time, let seep. Our common bond became a foe To changes deep, we feared, Might be the start of letting go Of moments that drew us near. We drove the past into the ground Because no present flowed, Not much to share, much less to say About what made us so. It's time to feel the loss of us, We died so long ago.
