Faces of Loneliness
Faced with loneliness I decided
it was in no ones hands but mine
I could stay shut up indoors
stagnate and vegetate mindlessly
Or I could grab life by the horns
visit friends, meet up for coffee
do some shopping for the elderly
any thing apart from four walls
So I busily filled up the lonely hours
with things I did not really enjoy
over time I grew to appreciate
just having space and time to myself
Now, when I close the front door
my public face soon fades away
to be replaced by a sorrowful one
one that tells of long lonely hours
