Faces and Masks
You have her face, but not her eyes.
Fragrant words, but sweetened lies.
All my poems spilled onto your page,
kept inside more than ink, a quiet rage.
You have her face, but not her eyes.
Whispered words and lonely sighs.
A dream that won't come true,
sorry to say she isn't you.
You have her face, but not her eyes.
A love affair dressed in disguise.
All my love laid behind her shadow,
you're the echo the voice couldn't follow.
I wish you were different and that you'd grow wise,
you have her face, but not her eyes.
