Eyes of the Ocean
Something fades with the setting sun
When light refracts and then is done
A perfect thought's but once complete
And then there's nothing more to see
Hold within your hollow eyes
The hope that stars can never die
The fallen thirst for true despair
Can only leave you standing there
Among the shattered lights of evening
Eyes like prisons to the soul
Prisms burning through our seeming
Into colors once so whole
So nevermind the light inside
That burns its crimson through your mind
Leave behind all that you find
And turn your eyes deep into mine
I'd tear the tears straight from my eyes
Before I'd hear you cry
So we are here, the moon above
Reflecting none of hope and love
But none can be enough
When we find all our hopes and fears
A river of our tears
Raging down in torrents to the sea
Where aspirations lay asleep
Drowned far too deeply in the night above
Is this enough for you to see
That I, too, deeply feel
The urgency to make what's real
Into the night of never-ending bliss
One kiss is all I ask to forget
One tear shed for the beauty
Of who once we thought we were
You've held despair inside your hollow eyes so long
I heard your empty cries while wandering in the wilderness
Of who we once thought we could be
Oh can't you see
I just can't help but see
The emptiness in you
And me
