Eyes As Black As Sealed Graves
We entered through the tunnel with the black steel gates
We knew there was a route to the base from the caves
As we passed the outer rim the security was late
The squad moved as one until the lights began to break
We carried on alone and the light began to fade
Communication was now gone but we all knew our marks on the stage
As I hit my point I knew that something had happened and it was strange
The squad never showed and I was alone in a dark cave
The linking tunnels to the base had been infilled all the way
As I shone my torch on the ground a discovery was made
A face with eyes alive was burned into the floor of the cave
As I shone my torch around the outline of the face suddenly did change
It was now outlined in red with eyes as black as sealed graves
The face started to shimmer and movement other than mine was alive in the cave
I slowly moved back to where my entrance was made
I quickly ran through the tunnels to the entrance with the gates
As I saw the moonlight cast its light on the path that lay ahead
I turned to see a red wave crash into the gates and banging steel in my head
At that point I heard the screams of so many men echo in the cave
And then the quiet of the night smothered the sound of death as it escaped
It was later when I heard of the nature of the cave
On ancient burial ground it had been placed and all but me who had entered had disappeared without trace.
