Eye In Eye - Munch

I've since looked at Kiss IV by Munch about his relationship with Tulla Larsen and may revisit poem this as I feel differently about this painting now... Inspired by the painting by Edvard Munch - Eye in Eye. Which I explored as free verse yesterday. I have attempted to do this within restrictive form but prefer the free verse. As ever - view the painting to aid understanding. Empty soulless stare, eye in eye Nothing declared, nothing to find When did we give up, fail to try Remain with invisible bind Rooted to spot with life devined Unseen tether, never untie As unfathomably entwined Empty soulless stare, eye in eye I made my bed, now I shall lie Open unclosed eyes to remind Question repeating endless why Nothing declared, nothing to find No type of comfort, never kind What judgement does your stare imply Trapped in this life, I am confined When did we give up, fail to try Imperceptible air supply Contact leaves me feeling maligned On inner strength I can't rely Remain with invisible bind Purgatory for me designed Life choices to here I decry But to my fate I am resigned Harder to breathe, with you nearby Empty soulless stare
