Expressions Through Poetry

EXPRESSIONS THROUGH POETRY Writing poetry or anything at all creative is a lonely business. You are your own judge, for what You write down on paper, invariably comes’ from within, and contains a great deal of yourself, your personality, beliefs, feelings and restlessness. There is very little honour in writing poetry, only an inner satisfaction that you have somehow managed to communicate with someone, somewhere, even for just a fleeting moment. Few people are actually attuned to your thoughts and feelings and the way you see things in life as we are all individuals. Poetry is a rhythmic language charged to the highest possible degree with one’s own personality. It often holds no practical ends, unless sheer delight is to be considered practical. It arises from, and communicates with layers of consciousness in daily life. I imagine we have all had the experience of not understanding a poem, and yet, getting something out of it. Our, response to poetry is largely Instinctual. Depending on the poet, words can either gain or lose significance according to a complex and ever changing context that is partly personal, partly social and partly historical. Poems take on meaning according to the angle from which one views them. It is futile to talk of the progress or decline of this art. The art flourishes whenever a poet writes a poem. Poetry will never wither away, as long as people feel the necessity to express themselves. Poetry is often thought of as been eccentric, and is certainly considered to be an art of high expression. Reading poetry allows us to learn, enrich our knowledge and sharpen our astuteness. I believe that there are poems tucked away and locked up in many homes, so come on, get out those precious poems, dust off the cobwebs and do something about them!

Dear Jennifer, you have dived deep into the realm of poetry. you have touched the core of my passion. poetry that mysterious world in the sense of beauty and wonders, as I see it, a world where you unveil your innermost without being revealing! It is a world of danger zone where you have that feeling of comfort! You rejoice in allusion and illusion! A world of gripping paradoxes, unpredictable and appealing! When you fall in love with poetry there is no returning point!. Wonderful write! My Love

Hi Besma, Are we perhaps sisters and we don't even know it? You are so right, it is a danger zone, where one has the feeling of comfort - a fantasy world where we can rejoice in illusions. I am in love with poetry as are you, this we definitely do share! Be blessed always, Jennifer

There is no doubt that you and poetry have come a long way together, Jennifer! Your words reveal a deep understanding of this subject which means so much to you. I generally write for myself, but sharing with others brings added satisfaction. Many people don't write poetry, but they love reading it; we have a duty towards those, too. ~ Warm regards // paul

When one considers all of the nursery rhymes which still exist despite the fact that no one remembers what they were all about, I think you are on to something here, Jennifer! Aloha! Rico

Good morning again Rico, Im the early bird today. Sad to say you are right, only the children have the fun, some parents don't pick up their historical value. But I think that poetry is an art that not everyone understands. However I'm certain they do get something out of it as there can be so many interpretations to art and poetry. Have a good weekend, Yasou! Jennifer.

Thank-you Mahtab, Glad you enjoyed as I enjoyed writing it many years ago, and thank-you for your comment. Perhaps it will, or rather I hope it will, encourage other poets to submit their poems to Poetry Soup or where else where they will gain recognition for their work/art. Kind regards, Jennifer
