Every Man Is Brother
The world is going crazy
and I think it ought to stop.
The reasons still are hazy
from the bottom to the top.
A lie can be contagious,
spreading round the countryside.
Our leaders are outrageous;
count the people who have died.
An honest politician
is a rarity, indeed.
They lie without contrition
and then watch the country bleed.
There's something in the "other"
that keeps vexing mankind's will,
though every man is brother,
so religions teach us still.
Postscript: In honor of John Robert Lewis
If hatred stands where love once stood
humanity can't bear the cost.
Survival's price is brotherhood
and man must pay or man is lost.
When minds we find are compromised,
to grandiosity's extremes,
the world becomes too traumatized
by leaders lost in whimsy's dreams.
