Author's Notes:  "Evergreen in Winter Cold," is a verse write I put together looking at "Evergreen" as manifested in plants, trees and shrubs -- as a symbolization of seasonal and yearly renewal on Earth, and in a greater sense, life renewal personified by its trademark of "deep greenness" or "verdancy" which bespeaks life itself.  And having the metaphor of Evergreen in the cold of winter seemed to be appropriate as we are in the seasonal end cycle of the current year and preparing with hope and faith and renewal that are all integral parts of the calendar transition into the new year.  (Gary Bateman - December 9, 2014) (Verse poetic format)

These lovely plants, trees, shrubs Thrive the year around with their Constant coloring and aura of most Majestic “Deep Greenness” which Testifies powerfully to the symbol Of life that they portend in all of Mother Nature’s varied seasonal Weather conditions especially in Winter as the snowflakes fall both Cold and White the Evergreen is there With its trademark glory of green Signifying continuous life renewal As the Cold White Snow falls on the Ground and prepares our next Earthly Transition to the new calendar year Gary Bateman, Copyright © All Rights Reserved (December 9, 2014) (Verse poetic format)

It's shameful how evergreens are abused during the Christmas season. I wonder what they would say if they could speak human. Nice, descriptive thoughts, Gary.

Hello Tom, Thanks for your read and kind comments here. Given "Global Warming" and all of the ongoing abuse of Mother Nature by "Mankind," I would tend to think the Evergreens would want to say "Goodbye to Mankind" and would opt to get as far away from Humans as they could possibly get. Best Always, Gary

That one reminds me of "deep ecology" of Fritjoff Capra when you speak of renewal which is the integral part of the transition. We must study nature at deep level and not superficially."With its trademark glory of green Signifying continuous life renewal" I have that conviction that the metaphor of Evergreen Nature will be honored by our present and next generations.Great one Gary my friend.Love to you and Ingrid.Love to your other family members.Today is hotter here 22 deg C....yours RAJAT

Well done -- I love the evergreens, dropping in spring but never going bare. These are wonderful plants -- everybody should have at least one of these!! I name you green leaf -- you are always full of life my dear friend. This gave me great pleasure to rest under your evergreen tree.

David, Thanks!! I will be doing more and more of these writes in the future. The Verse format write seems a perfect vehicle for these. The "Evergreen" is a great renewal theme. I like them too very much. And so . . . "Green Leaf" it is!! Best Always, Gary
