Etched In Stone

I visited a graveside this very day, The name I saw made me turn away. There it was etched in marble stone, A sight that chilled me to my bone. It was my name inscribed upon that stone, And I heard myself let out a silent groan. This cannot be for I am here, What has happened I feel so *****? But I have a peace I’ve never known, While trying to refocus on that stone. Then I wonder could this be a dream, But wait there is a light a dazzling beam. Then I feel myself being drawn rapidly away, Into the light, but the feeling was that all was okay. And there I see things I’ve never seen, A city of gold yet simple and serene. The sound of laughter and the feeling of love is everywhere, And then I see the essence of the light standing there. It is my Savior in all His glory, And this is where I say goodbye and end my story.

It would be a bit chilling to see one's name on a gravestone. Thankfully, the Lord arrived and brought warmth and love to the scene. Blessings to you for sharing this poem with us. Keep on writing. Thank you for stopping by and commenting on my poem. Karen
