Escape From Self
could we even begin to fathom
as far as finite minds might go
keeps souls trapped in ransom
preventing spirits freedom flow
investing priceless treasure in us
He repudiates mediocre returns
we should examine just as much
value impart a heart that yearns
we must not bury treasures of life
under exterior of common humanity
instead place Jesus within our strife
escape from self and arrogant vanity
His will His life resurrection and powers
praying His prayers desiring His desires
seeking His possessions at sacred hours
alive in Christ sacrificed as He requires
( I no longer live, but Christ lives in me—Galations 2:20 )
