Escape

Exhaustion, fatigue, hopelessness These are feelings that take hold over me as I run. Run to escape, to forget Run till I can no longer move, no longer breathe Till exhaustion sets in and I collapse from the futility of it all I run from the despair that is my life From the hope that is no longer there I run from the ever haunting nightmare that is my past I run from the future I could have had The future that I should have had I run from the monster who haunts my dreams I run to escape the darkness Always knowing that sooner or later I will get caught Caught by the darkness that is past Caught by the monster whose name I once took Caught like some insignificant fly in a spider’s web Struggling futilely to escape only to realize that there is no such thing One can never escape their past Only run from it Only hide from it Always scared of getting caught by it
