Erasing Memories

Of its own volition the brain erases time, to rearrange events, or change truth; an embarrassing moment, a misspoken word, cowardly act, wrong decision, missed opportunity, or lost love. If you could call back time, you'd become a sieve, and filter out all the pain.

Thank you, Ilene. No one is immune to those accidental misspoken words. I am trying to practice self-forgiveness as well as being forgiving of others. It's a hard road to travel.

Cona, A most interesting and thought-provoking free verse write here!! In three short stanzas you've covered much ground regarding the "erasing of memories." Time, of course, is the one thing we can't call back. Filtering the episodes of pain in our lives, of course, another thing entirely. I enjoyed your poem here very much!! Best Always!! Gary
