Enough To Make Dan Cry
As I have seen the years go by,
I've watched so many good friends die.
It sets me with my heart a reeling
And leaves me with a lonesome feeling.
Loving ones who greeted me at birth,
Have one by one all left this Earth.
In my high-school class of thirty five,
I am the very last alive.
I remember their young and eager faces.
Now great-grandchildren take their places.
I've lost husband, son, grand and great-grand child.
How many more losses will be piled
Upon my old, bent-over shoulder?
It isn't easy getting older.
