Shortening nights are approaching all too fast
Warm days of summer are a thing of the past
Farmers busy themselves in the field
Nature’s bountiful crops now yield
Apple trees groan under the strain
This abundant harvest must not remain
Trees are now dressed with a golden glow
Wet days are forecast; bitter winds will blow
Jack frost snaps his icy fingers
White hoar frost soon gently lingers
Light snow falls; winter is now delivering
White woolly coats stop sheep from shivering
