Empty Depth of Barren Canyon

Empty Depth of Barren Canyon to know the empty depth of barren canyon, the reverberated sound of distant fear, feel the surging scar of river’s scalpel, bleed the muted red of sun bleached clay. to feel the eyes of passersby upon you marveling at the beauty of your loss awed by your resistance to times passion humbled by your failing stoics guise. to hear the lonesome shriek of eagle fall silent on cliff dwellings gone to dust and share the emptiness of longing for gentle songs to interrupt the hush. to touch the heats imagination an oasis in the midst of baking sand hold for but a blinking moment the vision of a canyon not so grand. Well captured John! The forces of nature can be perplexing leaving mankind to wonder of what once was and where we are heading. I love your perspective - how you've stated 'marveling the beauty of your loss' - it's easy to be astounded by the canyon and forget that once there was something greater in place. Very well penned!

Vicki, thanks for your kind comments. I often look at things and imagine what was or what might have been. John
