Emotions Immortal

O, words written help to still the pain in my soul so I write of my ravaged life over and over reaching into the past of my twisted journey and hold them like a warm blanket familiar can these words cleanse my emotions (?) as my pen drips blood with a sorrow that is perpetual and like the strains of a violin it wash over me the past and the present mingling with tears the curtains stir with an old pain and the words stain my white paper blood red falling, drip, drip, dripping with terrible emotions that never decay or wither away in time but stay and are full of shrieking voices of the beloved dead chattering in my soul, over and over and over my heart is drowned with memories O, I will always relive each sad funeral dance the last moments of life and the funeral farewell the lamenting in the cemetery- the sweet stinking roses a host of roses beneath trees fluttering in the breeze so the emotions I write in patterns to purge my pain and I am lost in a sea of headstones and shadows of time O, love is eternal and even death cannot diminish for it is timeless, beautiful both precious and painful thoughts tiptoeing through tangled trees when in shafts of sunlight come the memories or in the darkness come slithering like snakes a sweetness seems to last in the dregs of past sorrow and I hold each emotion to my heart wiping off dust O, beauty is a momentary thing in this short life of ours and words spoken can become weapons that scar our souls that can never be erased or forgotten or taken away ever even when forgiven by words or pen they just fall deeper within and I hang my head like a dying flower for heartbreak is immortal and so I write and write _____________________ December 2, 2020 Poetry/Prose/Emotions Immortal Copyright Protected, ID 12-1309-052-02 All Rights Reserved, 2020, Constance La Frane Written for the Standard contest, Catharsis Poetry sponsor, Silent One, Judged 12/10/20 First Place

When you’ve been to a young person’s funeral with those stinking roses, you never enjoy the scent so my go to flower is tulips. Nicely done! Congratulations, Connie!

Words said in anger last infinitely - best that we simmer down first, and then chat, but I can understand that sometimes it is hard to keep ones own council. Hugs and blessings - a clever poem Constance and very creative! Hugs ad blessings, Jennifer.

This is what we all must realize so we can curb the words of anger and hurt before they fly out of our mouth. "words spoken can become weapons that scar our souls that can never be erased or forgotten or taken away ever" Well penned.
