Elements

I write in the presence of your soul Like you are the oxygen that is vital for my survival Struggling for one final breath before the end of the world Comes crashing down around us I am the water as fluid as salty kisses on tear stained cheeks Shattered sea shells on cement floors From the vacation we took the summer you proposed You are the fire dancing beautifully in the night Mesmerizing to watch but dangerous to hold A candle left burning far too long I am the earth fertilizing your growth Strong enough to support the roots you lay down But still unsure of how to bloom on my own WE are the elements As night and day as they come Symbolic yet dysfunctional Together till the end but only because You took parts of me that I never want back
