Eating Alone

Eating alone puts me in a self-conscious mood, every bite I take every spill I make, feeling hundreds of eyes staring at my attempts to appear as if my unaccompanied dining event is a once-in-a-while circumstance, reading the newspaper provides a fortress for lonely feelings, occasionally I peek from behind the printed wall and watch other diners who share intimate glances, laughter and coupleness.

Working the crossword works for me. It gives the appearance that you have no need of friends to entertain yourself. Make sure it's the NY Times Sat. Edition and fill in all the boxes if you know them or not. That'll give them something to talk about...OH YEAH, I LIKED YOUR PIECE, CHARLIE

Charlie, thanks for your advice about filling in a crossword puzzle, especially the NY Times Saturday Edition when eating solo. That would be a challenging one to do. My twin Brother, Gene does their crosswords in ink. I appreciate your kind comment on my lonely piece. ~ Sonia
