Early Sunday Morning
Early Sunday Morning

Early Sunday Morning
Well into the Fall
Darkness still surrounds
There is a quiet pall
Colored leaves not visible
In the darkness of the day
A light breeze moves the chilly air
The sky becomes a lighter gray
The neighborhood is stirring
Kitchen lights begin to glow
I'm not the only one awake
I heard the neighbor's rooster crow
Soon people getting ready
For the beginning of the week
Looking in the closet
For the clothing that they seek
Sunday's best should be the dress
After all it's sabbath day
Be off to church to hear the word
See what the preacher has to say
Listen closely to his sermon
Show reverence from the pew
Feel the spirit of the lord
He's always there for you
I pray your day is joyous
This further thought I now append
That health and happiness is yours
That's my wish for you my friend
