Early Spring

EARLY SPRING Skating children stop in park To stamp in muddy footmarks: Messy, black, untidy, Cold, repulsive, ugly - A shallow dirty mire filled With broken shards of ice spilled. All in a moment the sun splashes The blackened ice and flashes Brighter than noon in my eyes - A dazzling overwhelming surprise, The dirt and mere mud mayhem Purified into a coruscating gem.
