Duty Bound
I felt the bullet pierce my flesh
Like so many times before
The scars remain as does the pain
When you participate in war
Standing with my band of brothers
One of many on fields of death
Day or night I vow to fight
Though I struggle to catch my breath
No master in this game of chess
Just a voluntary pawn
Duty bound with blood on the ground
While the dogs of war march on
