Drug Induced Names - Both Audio and Text

Listen to poem:
When was the last time that someone you met…that was younger than seven or eight… Told you their name…you repeated it right…and even knew how it was spelled? I’ve gotta tell ya’…but can’t tell ya’ why, that…close to a decade ago… The “weird name” phenomenon gained in momentum…and “old-fashioned-naming” was quelled. I can remember when children were named for their ancestors - (some of them dead). When boys took the names of their fathers as “juniors”…and daughters were named for their moms. I understand why a few were abandoned, like - Morris, and Cletus, and Cy… But Michaels and Roberts have disappeared too, and where are the Williams, and Toms? The Stevens and Davids, the Josephs and Johns…and where in the world are the Jims? Where are the Jennys, the Marys, and Beckys…the Lindas, the Sallys…and Sues? So many names are a thing of the past, and the reason I’m writing this poem Is…I can’t believe…as these names disappear…the ones they’re electing to choose. What do you say to a guy when he tells you his genuine name is....Tyrex! Some of the names are completely pathetic, and I really think it’s a shame. Congress should make it a law that the parents…before it is chiseled in stone… Send in submissions to ask for permission concerning their choosing a name. Brillton, and Queesak…and Florzy, and Zandle. (I’m guessing at how they are spelled.) Stibbly, and Velpra…and Keftum, and Dwamer. These are a bunch of the worst. The names they are giving their children sound more like the ones they make up for new drugs... so, maybe - like those - they should all be approved…by a government agency first!
