Before you cut your wrist
within a silver wink
Drop the knife!
Don't let your life
Lie at the mercy of your dripping blood
where every crimson droplet
trickles against the black mantle
of your subconscious
Making your vision
round and round
towards the spiral
of void's sinister smile
Till all is dark!
If you want to see the light
Oh please
Drop the knife...

Wow Juan, great writing. A real attention grabbing first line, and the rest is equally as effective. Your choice of phrase is wonderful. Well done ~ Sharon :)

Yes, we must "drop the knife" when we feel compelled to end our lives. As you say in your wonderful poem, facing our struggles is the path to "the light." Some folks really need to hear this inspirational message. Thank you for posting it. Best wishes, Carolyn

Man, you are telling me! There was one week here on poetrysoup, and I swear there were like 400 poems all about threats of cutting wrists and suicide. It is depressing to read, and then you start to wonder how serious they really are....and you are thousands of miles away hiding behind a computer screen. Really disturbing. Chris.
