Dreamscapes

Dreamscapes are evening's battlefields Ideas explode like deafening grenades Mind so active that sleep is repelled Dream diary reflects unsettled thoughts Did I do right by those I love today? No switch to shut off the bombardment Complete review of the past day Precedes an entire life analysis Only deep meditation suppresses attacks Positive images are evoked Think of a favorite spot where nature reigns A place where pleasant sounds abound Trills from seagulls Mild waves lapping a sandy shore Giggles of children playing on the beach Banish anxiety Breathe deeply Stretch limbs Gentle thoughts eradicate worries At long last, welcome sleep *March 19, 2021 Contemplation Free Verse Contest, hosted by Craig Cornish

Sleep, meditation, contemplation are so illusive when you want them so much. This well crafted verse of feelings should earn you some well deserved rest. Congratulations.

You have poetically described such a situation when sleep is hard to come by, Carolyn, but it appears that you have your own solution for it. Personally it never takes me long to sleep, but it happens sometimes when I get over-tired. Warm regards & hugs // paul

WoW! Carolyn, You've penned a great entry for the contest. I don't suffer from insomnia these days; however, I did have problems sleeping in the past. The latter portion of your poem was great advice for someone who has insomnia. This reads like a winner to me. Best wishes in the contest. Have a great day:-) Alexis

I don't get insomia much these days, but I like how vivdly you describe it, especially 'no switch to shut off the bombardment' - and also the meditative techniques, 'mild waves lapping a sandy shore' - so evocative, hoping for a win for you :)

I’m one of the lucky ones. I fall asleep instantly and wake up early without an alarm clock. My sweetie has always struggled with insomnia. I feel for her. Thanks for your visit. Hugs Rick.

Most of the Soup women I know have trouble sleeping. Maybe men find it easier. Thanks for reading.

I'm sorry you have had to go through the stress of your husband's surgery. At least it brought you to writing!

Insomnia, - Been there and done that. Sometimes a nice walk right before bedtime can help. Breathe in the fresh clean night air and feel the relaxation seep into your body. A fine write. I feel your pain. God Bless, JB

I took a three-day fishing charter off Key West and caught that red grouper. Caught a 50-pound Goliath Grouper too, but couldn't hold him up for a photo :)

Reads like a good contender for the contest. Sleep is a good thing but sometimes or a lot of the time it eludes us. Thanks for dropping by. Sara
