Dream Path
There's a cold glow
when I wake from a dream with you
A place where warmth should be
A quiet happiness too.
I lie in the dark, grasping
for the feeling of you near.
You're sitting right next to me,
talking,
I'm happy, not realizing the dream.
Mostly faded now, just a
memory of a memory
A residual warmth on my arm
The not echo of your voice in my ear.
Hate waking up away from you.
I said, after I realized the dream
(gently) 'I'll be back'
You said
(whistfully) 'I'll be here'
