Doylestown Sunset

DOYLESTOWN SUNSET Into a land that few have ever seen, I found myself, before a starry night, where flowers bloomed, and trees were evergreen, and summer rains were warm and filled with light. The drops would sparkle in the evening sun, and kiss the petals, just as lovers do, down moistened leaves and slender stems they'd run, to meet the earth, and bring forth life that's new. Through valleys blessed with love, I took my fill of life and love and secrets of the past, I drank in knowledge of this world, until tomorrow grasped the sun, and held it fast! I saw the joy of life that's born each day, until the darkness pulled the light away. © ron wilson aka vee bdosa the doylestown poet

This poem is a great example of the power of the sonnet. Why Shakespeare went to it time and time again. Beautiful. Thanks for sharing.............peace!

Thanks,Richard, I love writing sonnets. As a matter of information, my first book of poetry is a book I wrote title of WRITING SONNETS FOR YOUR FRIENDS AND SOUL MATES. It has had 3 printings, and is sort of a tell all about how I write sonnets, with many examples.

I enjoyed your verses: beautiful rhymes (seen and evergreen, night and light, sun and run etc.), rhythm and imagery (you walk in beauty like the clouds in starry nights) and how you share petals of love...Best wishes.
