Dot To Dot

From dot number one I draw a line To dot number two with a pencil fine, Then on to three, off to the right Back to dot four, a curious sight, Number five points me in a sharp angle Then up to number six without a tangle, Dot number seven turns to the left I am drawn to eight by fingers deft, Number nine was not off too far From number ten to create a star! I sharpen my pencil before I delve Into number eleven to number twelve, With a zig and a zag to thirteen, fourteen Black dots form a shape yet to be seen, A puzzling mystery with fun begot On to fifteen, sixteen, I'll give it a shot, Just what would emerge as I drew Seventeen, eighteen, I wish I knew, Dot number nineteen connected without fail To twenty, to give my star it's shining tail!

Congratulations Kelly! I love the journey you took us on in your dot to dot to finally see the results - a shining star. I think John is correct in his assessment that this is like writing a poem as we go from thought to thought, line by line! Blessings. Happy New Year!

Thank you, Sam... And, I agree with your comment and John's... That is the way I feel, too, when writing a poem and piecing it together, line by line...

Reminds me of the process of writing a poem... moving the pencil one thought at a time until the fullness of an image jumps off the page. Beautifully crafted, congrats for your win ~ John

I enjoyed reading this, Kelly, I remember drawing dot to dot as a kid and the anticipation wondering what will emerge at the end. You convey those feelings well. John
