Dopey

Remember your very first movie? I surely remember mine Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs It was nineteen thirty-nine! Went to a matinee with my parents “Sit still!” my mother said Saw two movies and a funny cartoon Still dancing round in my head! I remember being really frightened By the sight of the wicked old Queen Soon as Dopey came bouncing along Happy times returned to the screen! The music's been here for all my life “Whistle While You Work” And “Someday My Prince Will Come” That's when my ears start to perk Sure don't make 'em like that anymore Now they're 3-D animated gems Amazing but I long for the simpler ones Sure wish I could live 'em again! © Jack Ellison 2013

A nice homage to a simpler time in life. A trip to the movies was a grand occassion, a way to escape from harsher times back then. I also enjoyed the way you captured the childhood impressions that have lived with you till this day, the colour, comedy, and uplifting songs from the movie. Well constructed and crafted quatrain. A nice nostalgic poem.

Is this a re-post? I could have sworn I've read this a long time ago, but I was dabbling through your very old work. In any case I still enjoy it as I did before. My first "theater movie" was Star Wars 2 Attack of the Clones.

My first memory of TV is watching the moon landing...of course we didnt get a TV for some time...black and white, aluminum foil wrapped on the antennas.. haha...another. cutie Jack....

My Dragon... keeps talking about the good old days... But I don't get it. Most folks don't see much fun in the Dark ages... The first thing I remember is moving into our family's first house. The first thing my Dragon remembers is burning down his first house... Said the cooked sheep were yummy... Guess you had to be there... LOL
