Dont Put Your Heart
Don’t put your heart to those you meet
The part of you’ll get stripped apart
You’ll be left a lonesome ****
After losing parts of your wincing heart.
Do not speak of your delight
Nor likeness that would boost pride
After they know you need them so
Oh they’ll threaten they’d wish to go.
Show to them that you care not
Even inside it aches too much
They’ll not pity, they’ll laugh a lot
Do not let them step on your hat.
Do not tell them you love them true
And you don’t wish for them to go
After all they’ll leave you still
So make them feel your heart is steel.
Even inside your tattered heart you need them still…
