Don'T Let Your Dreams Get Away From You
So many people you see on the street
Are walking heads down with their eyes at their feet,
You tell from how they move they’ve let it die.
You see an old friend and you ask him “What’s new?”
--He changes the topic to talk about you,
He hates to let you see his dream went by.
Everyone says, “Son, you’re wasting your life,
The years come down like a rusty knife
And cut the heart from out of your fantasy.”
It’s damned good advice but the kind you ignore,
You smile and you’re keeping right on like before,
That golden dream is your reality.
Don’t let your dreams get away from you,
There’s nothing that’s quite as true
As a dream of your own—it’s stronger than stone,
Don’t let your dreams get away from you
There’s nothing that’s quite as true.
