Don'T Label People
I wish people wouldn’t label people with disabilities
As being different and would get to know them
Now I’ll admit that I’ve got a disability
And also did some volunteer work at a Middle School
But the students there tend to look past my disability
And most seemed to want to get to know the real “me.”
Which was really good because I never got to experience that in school
Because when most students saw my wheelchair they labeled me
As handicapped and didn’t care to take the time to get to know me
And that really did hurt me more than anything else
But now I realize that they were just scared
So the next time you see someone with a disability
Get to know them before you label them as being different.
