Don'T Know What You Got
An old man sits at his table
with a hamburger on his plate,
wanting his grandkids to show up
he just sits there; he waits.
He has six grandchildren
makes twelve hamburgers for lunch,
he hopes that they'll be there
for right now, it's just a hunch.
He wants to spend time with them
gets excited as the time passes by,
he looks at the hamburgers
you can see the loneliness in his eyes.
Maybe there were a few phone calls
each one, breaking the man's heart,
tears probably rolled down his face
each one, leaving a stained mark.
Out of six grandchildren
only one decides to show,
don't know what you got, till it's gone
there's truth behind it, you know.
Spend as much time with your loved ones
love them no matter what,
time is precious till it's gone
realize then, you don't know what you got.

Last night, I saw a picture of a gentleman sitting at his table, looking at a plate of hamburgers he made up for his grandchildren and himself. One of his grandchildren showed up, took the picture and posted it on Twitter. I had to write something, because you never know when you're going to lose a loved one, you never spend time with.
