Don'T Feed the Particles In the Zoo

DON'T FEED THE PARTICLES IN THE ZOO What particles ARE, with this list of ARE NOTS, ARE listed below to peruse in your thoughts. Mesons AREN'T plural for multiple mice. Baryons AREN'T picked for a pie just to slice. Neutrinos AREN'T Newts and Leptons don't leap. Muons AREN'T kittens that mew in their sleep. Electrons WON'T fry you to particle vapor. Gluons WON'T stick you, down to your paper. Gravitons AREN'T gravy nor dug from a grave. Tachyons AREN'T tacky in clothes you won't save. The Tau's AREN'T an Empire with power to wield. Bosons AREN'T bossy while out in their field. Fermions, ALL TWELVE, while The MATTER endorse, the Bosons, OF FIVE, are Carries of FORCE. Fermions WON'T be, in same-place-at-same-time, But Bosons WILL be, it's their paradigm. While some Quarks ARE Uppers and some let you Down. Some ARE true Toppers with Bottoms profound. Some DO act Strangely, while others have Charm. Mass, charge, spin, and color, ARE features they arm. Leptons ARE in "flavors" that can be most tasteful. What they ARE in decay is not at all wasteful. There ARE three generations that change what they weigh. And they ARE very different in how they decay. Electrons ARE stable with common precision. While Muons and Taus ARE made in collision. NO strong interactions these Leptons will take. Yet they're subject to basics, make NO mistake. Photons ARE particles AND waves of light. Gluons ARE binding in matter, just right. "W's" ARE weak in their force, it is true! So ARE the "Z's," who are last at the zoo. The Higgs, IS a boson that's so elusive. What boson it is, IS not so conclusive. We know IT's a particle with zero spin. IT's got positive parity from deep within. Now that you know what particles ARE NOT, And what some likely ARE, it can help quite a lot. Some things ARE tiny and invisible too. They ARE dancing about in the particle zoo. So MANY zoo particles for you to know. In a zoo of a SECRET particle show. Come SEARCH for particles, if brave and you dare. But DON'T feed the particles, while you are there! Witty and informative, and in rhyme! You are up-to-date with particles, Edlynn, but can't be otherwise, being a keen physician! You remind me of my late brother, a fanatic on physics and chemistry (but he could neither dance nor write poetry!). Regards // paul

Ha ha ha ! Well then you know that as soon as the poem is posted, it is out-of-date and they have discovered a new theory [now it is ER = EPR, Google/You-Tube search that one] or anti-particles OR SOMETHING. One can only be current for about a week. We are living in the "Golden Age" of physics. Im sad you no longer have your brother! I hate that empty spot from family members that have gone to their greater glory. I always wish I could call them up for a chat!

I don't know nothin' 'bout no particles, but I know a well-written, flowing poem when I read one. I don't know if you watch Big Bang Theory, but they should work an episode around this poem. I can see Sheldon reveling in 'his' write while an audience sits clueless, or some such scenario ... CayCay

Ha! HUGE COMPLIMENT THAT! I can see Sheldon reciting this going down each step and now that he's recited The stars within the constellations, the table of the elements, it's time that he recited the subatomic table of particles. Yet I don't think there are many rhymes on the subatomic table. Anywho, they shan't ever see this I'm guessing so I'm getting a gift from you in such high praise. Of course, you don't have to know a thing here...just go along for the ride. You will be shocked how much will have hit you when the announce something from LHC from CERN!

this is a very unusual one. I hardly knew any of those particle words! your poem has great meter!

Thanks Andrea! Can you help? Isn't this meter more Rhyme than Iambic Pentameter? It is NOT strictly 10 syllables. My hardest is to classify the genre! I think it's rhym...right?

Good! My task is how do you make science of the minute tiny world fun and interesting! At least have folks come away knowing about an entire world THERE but in observable by U.S. w/o a particle accelerator. If you can name 3 particles...you are ahead of most. The general public stops at atom or electron!

EdLynn I loved your particle zoo, it was so witty and charming and fun, well done and welcome to poetry soup andthanks for visiting my make-believe poem.

I loved your poem. Hey any time I can get in a Time Machine w/o a TARDIS...I'm there! I'm glad I've met new friends to be my mentors. Struggling with genre but am I not a RHYM Poet if you visit the very few I've posted? Are they super strict on this? What does one do if you've created a genre that doesn't exist yet but one is writing poems in such a pattern. Then What? No creating new literature?
