Don'T Hate Her

Don't hate her because she's beautiful Or envy that she's hot She is all about appearances It consumes her every thought Try to look a little closer Past the makeup and the hair Beauty has little value If a person doesn't care Looks are her priorities She doesn't work on what's inside People tell her she's beautiful She gorges on her pride She's an emotional anorexic Soul food she refuses to eat Her behavior reinforced When people fall at her feet She craves the admiration The attention she receives Pretty is her curse In the end it's her disease She becomes a caricature Her illusion to maintain Fighting the mirror and time Over and over again I appreciate a beautiful woman but the Beauty has to emanate from a much deeper place for me to truly appreciate it. The most beutiful women I have met have become more beautiful with each word they have spoken. We need to stop emphasizing the physical when we raise our children, we will then raise up a generation of truly beautiful people.

Richard...I wish all men thought like you do. I mean...ideally speaking inner beauty should win out, but....it isn't often the case. Beautiful can be an asset. Ah...to be a beauty queen WITH personality would be ideal. You write was perfect in every single way. ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL! :)

I agree that physically attractive women have to also deal with people not taking the time to see their inner beauty. Some men will never be able to look past outward appearance. I think they are missing out.

i agree...inner beauty is where it is, someone can be gorgeous but have a bad personality, and to me they are plain ugly...loved this poem!

Totally agree Sandra, we all have met these people. The great thing about people is that they have an infinit capacity for change and may just be going through a phase.

a powerful write that celebrates inner beauty and self-esteem, richard... images so crisp they lend so well with the theme.." She becomes a caricature , emotional anorexic" are just a few... a-ok!..:) huggs

Very true John, beauty does attract perverts, who sit and stare at people all day, but I'm sure Richard wouldn't stare at a pretty woman, would you ? love elizabeth

I think Beauty attracts everyone, perverts included. The difference is the places that Beauty is able to be seen.

I am glad you like it. In answer to your question: I hadn't written anything for over 7 years and started up again last Christmas. I am now almost finished my first book and going through the final edit process. Hope to be in print the first quarter of next year. A lot more involved than I had originaly thought.

I really like the way you express yourself in a poem my friend! It's simple, refreshing and very creative. You are my kind of poet... 10 stars! Where have you been? Cheers from the East!
