I wandered about on a cold Christmas night
Listening to carols sung in the distance
Voices singing about the baby Jesus
Could it be true that Jesus came to save me?
Could it be true that Jesus came to save me?
On this cold night it was so hard to believe
My hands ached and my face felt the winds sting
Their voices kept coming closer and closer
Their voices kept coming closer and closer
It felt like they were singing only to me
There was a sudden urge to just run away
I was so ashamed of my tattered old clothes
I was so ashamed of my tattered old clothes
Yet these angelic ones sang to my sad heart
One man removed his coat and gave it to me
At that moment what they sang felt like the truth!
At that moment what they sang felt like the truth
"Away in a manger no crib for a bed"
"The little Lord Jesus lay down his sweet head."
My heart then was flooded with heavenly light
As I listened to the next song "Oh Holy Night"!
